ATB SWIM SUNDAY 24 May 2026

The ATB Swim hosted by Swim Cape Town, now in it's 6th year continues to provide a platform for safe, accessible and inclusive Open Water Swimming in Cape Town. Whether you are young or old, a complete newbie or seasoned open water swimmer, our ATB Community is welcoming to all those that want to enjoy their dose of salt water therapy and vitamin sea without the start lines and finish lines of competitive swimming races. 

The ATB Swim is held year round on either the 2nd or 4th Sunday of the month depending on the weather. The swim starts and finishes on Simon's Town Long Beach with swimmers swimming a route in Simon's Bay with the support of the SA Navy and City of Cape Town. Swimmers can complete as many or as few laps of the marked course as they want to within the 1 hour that the ATB Swim runs. Lifeguards are on duty in the water and on land for the duration of the swim to guide swimmers around the course and assist swimmers whenever they are needed.

All swimmers 18 and under swim for FREE at the ATB Swim and also receive an #ATBSwimPups swim cap for FREE. Under 13s are to be accompanied by a parent or coach unless by prior arrangement with the ATB Team. Our Lifeguard Team, The Cape Town Watermen, are all qualified Lifeguards with Lifesaving South Africa and are on duty in and out of the water for the duration of the swim. All registered Lifesavers (whether South African or Internationals) South African Naval personnel and NSRI Rescue Swimmers also swim for free at the ATB Swim! All swimmers must have completed the online indemnity and be in receipt of the ATB Swim Orientation before taking part.
