Series Details
This series is comprised of five events. After each event, participants will earn points based on their race ranking.
To qualify for the Series Podium, you must complete four out of the five races.
IMPORTANT: Participation in the entire series is not mandatory, as there are podiums for each individual race.
Overview
The Bloem Battle Grounds is a hybrid fitness series that combines Functional Strength and Cardiovascular Endurance. The structure includes 10 strength disciplines with approximately 500 meters of running between each one.
The disciplines are straightforward and do not require prior technical training.
Practical Explanation
"Functional Strength" refers to exercises or disciplines that primarily require strength, such as flipping a tyre or carrying a heavy sandbag. "Cardiovascular Endurance" involves activities that mainly require fitness, specifically running in the context of Bloem Battle Grounds events. The strength disciplines may include, but are not limited to, the following: Tyre Flips, Farmers Carry, Sand Bag Carry, Net Crawl, Bear Crawl, Lunges, Tyre Pull, Burpees, Concrete Disc Pulls, and Atlas Carry. The running can be either flat or trail, depending on the event location.
Categories
TEAM
A team consists of two participants, which can be male/male, female/female, or male/female. The disciplines and running must be completed collectively by the team members. Specific team rules will be explained at the event, but generally, the entire course is completed together, with certain activities requiring teamwork. Team members are not allowed to assist each other at any point; doing so will result in disqualification. However, disqualified teams may still finish the event.
Team members can change as long as one member remains in the team. If the category changes (e.g., from male to mixed), the series points will reset to zero.
Prizes & Awards
To be eligible for awards, competitors must:
– Provide all required information to receive prize money and awards
– Compete in the Open/Elite, Men's, Ladies', or Mixed Team categories
– Fully complete a race without disqualification
For individual races, only podium medals will be awarded. Series winners will be eligible for prizes and series trophies!
Sequence
The strength disciplines can be completed in any order. Participants must run the designated route (approximately 500 meters) between each discipline before proceeding to the next. An athlete is considered "finished" once all disciplines and running are completed.
Timing
Athletes will start in waves with a 10-15 minute interval between each. You can select your wave number on the day. Timing is individual, based on the BIB number, which must be visible at all times. BIB numbers will either be stamped on.
Point System:
There are podiums for each race, but the overall series results will determine the true champions. The point system is a simple sliding scale that benefits athletes who participate in all three series races. However, athletes who cannot attend all three still have a chance to rank high overall if they perform well in the races they do attend. Point Allocation:
Points Table
1st 100
2nd 97 -3
3rd 94 -3
4th 91 -3
5th 88 -3
6th 85 -3
7th 82 -3
8th 79 -3
9th 76 -3
....etc
40th 2 -2
Penalties
If a participant cannot fully complete any discipline or running with the required movement standards without assistance, they will be disqualified. However, they may still continue to participate.
Event Conduct
Bloem Battle Grounds events operate on a first-come, first-served basis. If an athlete wants to perform at a station that is fully occupied, they must either choose another discipline or wait until the station is available. If an athlete reaches their final station and it is occupied, they must wait until it becomes available to complete it.
