*Please note that if you are not a PPA Member or a CSA license holder, you must obtain a CSA Day License.

*Timing for the event will be managed by Finish Time. Each participant will receive a disposable timing tail board in their race pack, included in the entry fee.

Team Administrators can add team members' names and manage their teams on the Team Admin page. This includes viewing and removing riders who are no longer participating. Complete this process by logging into your team Administrator profile after entering and paying.

Please be aware that teams will be disqualified if riders are not listed correctly. It is the team captain's responsibility to inform the Events Office of any changes. No rider substitutions are allowed on the day of the event.

Once your team is entered and paid for, ensure you add your team details by Monday, 20 April 2026. If team details are incomplete by this date, an admin fee of R200 per rider will be required at registration.

Teams can consist of up to 12 riders. Team categories are determined by the first 6 riders from each team to cross the finish line, not by the order of entry. Teams must have 6 finishers to receive an official team result. All team members must ride with their Finish Time tail board included in your race pack.

Teams can enter one of three categories:

  • Female – Women’s Teams must have only women starting. Teams can have between 6 and 12 riders. A first-place prize is awarded in this category, provided at least 5 teams compete.

  • Mixed – At least 3 female riders must finish within the first 6 riders. Otherwise, the team will be classified as an Open Team. A first-place prize is awarded in this category, provided at least 5 mixed teams compete.

  • Open (any gender combination) – An Open Team may consist solely of male riders or teams with fewer than 3 female riders.

Teams with a mix of single bikes and tandems, or only tandems, will receive an official team time in the Open Team category but will not be eligible for team prizes.

The start and finish will be at President Square, Clarens. The route takes teams from Clarens to Bethlehem, following the R26 before turning right onto the undulating R714 towards Warden and Eenzaamheid. Then, a right turn onto the R57 towards Kestell precedes the final stretch on the R712, which includes a challenging hilly section through the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The route is generally undulating, with steep and tough hills in the last 40 km. This ride is not recommended for beginners.

  • Start time: 06h30

  • Cut-off at the finish line: 16h45

Teams will start at 30-second intervals and have up to 10 hours to complete the event. A cut-off will be enforced at the Team Support Zone in Kestell (107 km). Additional cut-offs may be implemented along the route. There is a maximum 30-minute “time-out” period at the Team Support Zone, with more information here.

Teams will be seeded before the event, with start times published on the website beforehand.

Number Collection

The team captain or a representative must collect the team’s race numbers and rider information as follows:

  • Friday, 1 May 2026: 13h00 – 18h30 at Protea Hotel, Clarens, downstairs in the conference room. Access via Van Der Merwe Street (Dirt Road).

  • Team captains are responsible for collecting and distributing their team members’ race packs. No race pack collections will be allowed on the morning of the event.

  • Substitutions can only occur at Number Collection, with a R200 admin fee payable for each substitute rider, late addition, or amendment to a team. Teams not following the correct substitution procedure risk disqualification.

  • Timing is managed by Finish Time, and all team members must wear a tail board included in your race pack.

  • BIKE MECHANICS: Cycle World from Bethlehem will have a mechanic on standby at Number Collection for any last-minute issues. They will also have spares for sale. The Cycle World mechanic will be available from 05h30-08h00 on the morning of the event (on the Square), and will move to the Team Support Zone after the start.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT PRE-RACE MEAL: The Protea Hotel Clarens will offer a sit-down carbo load buffet from 18h00-23h00 in The Jewel Restaurant. Please book directly with Protea Hotel. The full menu will be available soon.
