The Montagu Winter Trail Running Series offers you six breathtaking venues to explore. Each event features three different distances. By entering all six events, you can enjoy a R300 discount on the entire series. Use the entry link to select from the 5 km, 10 km, or 15 km series. Completing the entire series allows you to collect all six medals, forming a unique keepsake. Additionally, runners who register for the full series receive a complimentary Trail Run Series Running Cap valued at R120.

Gecko Rock Private Nature Reserve Trail Run

Event #5 is hosted by Gecko Rock. As the series ventures deeper into the open Klein Karoo, you'll be captivated by the expansive landscapes and pristine vegetation, each with its unique scents. Gecko Rock offers beautiful trails and free-roaming wildlife, making it a location you'll fall in love with.

6 km Fun Run | 126 m ascent

Note that this route has been adjusted to be more walker-friendly. It begins on a well-maintained jeep track before joining the same single track used for the 10 km run. You will avoid the technical, rocky section through the kloof, making it easier on the body, safer for ankles, and likely resulting in faster times for runners. Enjoy the fresh air and the scents of Klein Karoo vegetation, primarily renosterbos, on this non-technical mix of single and jeep tracks.

10 km Trail Run | 247 m ascent

This 11 km trail offers a delightful combination of single track and jeep track. The trails, meticulously crafted over time, highlight the beauty of this private nature reserve. With enough elevation to provide a good workout and ample single track to keep you engaged, the start and finish are shared with the fun run, guiding you through untouched Karoo vegetation.

16 km Trail Run | 353 m ascent

The Gecko Rock Trail Run is the only event in the series featuring a longer distance for 2025, offering a 16 km trail run with breathtaking scenery. You'll traverse a secluded valley rarely visited by guests, where you might spot leopard tracks and other wildlife. This trail includes a rocky section but is mostly composed of undulating jeep tracks, perfect for the fitter runner seeking a challenge.
