Hovering Hermanus

Welcome to "Hovering Hermanus," a weekend filled with hiking adventures featuring five day hikes on consecutive days:

DAY 1: Cliff Path, 5km

DAY 2: Mosselrivier Dam Trail, 12km

DAY 3: Kleinbergie & De Bos Dam, 17km

DAY 4: 5Peaks Circuit, including Platberg, Aasvoëlkop, Mt Pustulata, Mt Cyclopia, Mosselberg, 16km

DAY 5: Lemoenkop & Fernkloof Waterfall, 5km

DAY 1: Wednesday, 6 May - Meet & Greet!

5km Introductory Hike: Hermanus Cliff Path

Kick off the adventure with a short hike along the famous Cliff Path, offering stunning views over the marine area and coast of Hermanus!

15:45 - Meet at the small amphitheatre at the playground on Marine Drive, Hermanus

16:00 - Hike begins

DAY 2: Thursday, 7 May - Mosselrivier Dam Trail, 12km, 340m elevation, 3.5 hours

Enjoy a beautiful route in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve, rich with birdlife, fynbos, and ocean views.

07:45 - Meet at the parking area on Reservoir Rd

08:00 - Hike begins

DAY 3: Friday, 8 May - Kleinbergie 327m, De Bos Dam, 17km Circuit, 270m elevation, 5 hours

This trail leads past vineyards, orchards, and fynbos, offering spectacular views of the valley and town.

06:45 - Meet at Hemel en Aarde Village

07:00 - Hike begins

DAY 4: Saturday, 9 May - 5Peaks Circuit: Platberg 748m, Aasvoëlkop 824m, Mt Pustulata 668m, Mt Cyclopia, Mosselberg 341m, 16km, 930m total elevation, 6 hours

Venture into the Kleinrivier Mountains via Adder Ladder, with abundant fynbos, coastal vegetation, and panoramic views. Conquer five peaks in one day!

06:45 - Meet at the parking area on Reservoir Rd

07:00 - Hike begins

DAY 5: Sunday, 10 May - Lemoenkop 207m & Fernkloof Waterfall, 5km, 226m elevation, 2 hours

Encounter diverse wildlife and pristine fynbos. Walk up Lemoenkop on the way to the waterfall, then complete the circular route back to the start.

• Emergency kit: Space blanket, whistle, cohesive bandage, small petroleum jelly, wet wipes, Rennies, plasters, sunscreen, electrolytes
• Suitable lightweight hydration/backpack, sunscreen, hat, proper trail shoes, snacks, enough water
• Lightweight windproof jacket/fleece, beanie, and gloves depending on the weather
• A waterproof jacket might be a handy kit item
• Always dress in layers
