About this race

The King Price Race to the Sea runs 50 or 100 miles across some of the best riding country in the Western Cape.

The 100 miler starts at Theewater Sports Club, on the edge of the Theewaterskloof Dam near Villiersdorp, and runs point to point to the coast. The route climbs the infamous Rusty Gate Pass, where the top opens onto the full sweep of the Overberg, then rolls on through canola fields and past the wind turbines before finishing at Benguela Cove near Hermanus. It is a long day with real climbing and a lot of gravel, and the kind of finish line that makes the distance worth it.

The 50 miler is the same route, half the distance. Open to riders aged 15 and up, it starts at Wolwekraal and takes in the second half of the route through to the coast. A serious ride in its own right, and a good way in for anyone not ready to take on the full 100.
