Each year, we encourage runners to pick up any litter washed ashore or otherwise, even if it's just a few small items. Every bit helps. As always, Quantum Adventures will hire three individuals a few days before the run to clean up litter along the coast in the Soetwater/Witsand area for an entire day.
Categories:
Separate categories for male and female participants.
- Masters – 50 years and older
- Veterans: 40 – 49 years
- Seniors: 16 – 39 years
Distance: 16km of stunning coastal trail running! This is a linear run, so please arrange car sharing or similar transport.
Note: It is your responsibility to organize your return transport from Scarborough. Consider lift sharing, Uber, or a Noordhoek taxi.
Route:
The GPS track will be emailed to all registered runners a week before the event.
No water tables will be available, so participants must be self-sufficient. Portaloos will be located at the Noordhoek beach car park, off Longbeach, Kommetjie, and at the finish.
Basic Route Description:
- Share vehicles and park in the back streets near the beach. Please avoid parking at the Beach Car Park to allow regular beachgoers access. A warm-up jog to the start will be beneficial.
- The run starts at De Hoek, Noordhoek Beach, passing Kakapo Wreck and crossing Kommetjie Beach.
- Proceed along the boardwalk and below the lighthouse for about 60 meters if the weather is dry. Otherwise, take a slight detour via Lighthouse Road and return to the Soetwater coastal route.
- Follow the beach/path to Witsand beach, cross onto the Strandloper trail, which features a grassy and rocky path beginning at the end of Witsand beach with some slippery (when wet) rock slabs leading to Misty Cliffs beach.
- Exit the beach below Misty Cliffs, where a marshal will guide you up the timber steps onto the wide gravel verge off the tarred section. Stay on the "right side" of the road and on the wide gravel area.
- Do not run on the tar road.
- Remain on the right side of this scenic section all the way to Scarborough.
- Cross the tar road to finish at the Camel Rock restaurant.
- Please be mindful of traffic, cars, motorbikes, cyclists, other road users, and pedestrians.
- Exchange your arm tag for your breakfast roll and your race number for your filter coffee.
Compulsory Kit:
- A waterproof rain jacket with a hood and long sleeves is mandatory. This is non-negotiable, as several runners were caught in cold, windy, wet weather in 2024, with some nearing hypothermia!

- Mini first aid kit: stretch bandage, wound dressing, anti-histamine tablets, anti-inflammatory tablets, triangular bandage, antiseptic cream.
