About this race

South Africa's ONLY Women's Mile swim continues for its 6th year in 2026!

The Simon's Bay Mile Women's Day Swim brings together Women young and old to share their love of Open Water Swimming and the Ocean.  The Simon's Bay Mile swim takes place in the picturesque Simon's Bay in Simon's Town. Simon's Town is a small coastal town in the south of Cape Town situated along the False Bay coastline on the southern part of the Cape Peninsula. Simon's Town is steeped in maritime history being home to the South African Navy and has many popular tourist attractions including the world-famous Boulders Beach with its Penguins.

The Women's Day Mile starts and finishes at the Simon's Town Waterfront with swimmers completing a 1 Mile / 1609m looped course of Simon's Bay against the backdrop of the Simon's Town mountains and resident South African Navy ships. Swimmers will pass by the kelp forests of Simon's Bay where they may be treated to glimpses of either the resident short-tailed Stingrays or small Puffadder shy-sharks that call Simon's Bay home.

Each Swimmer will once again receive a surprise gift from Swim Cape Town at registration whilst our Royal Matriarchs (Over 65s) and Princesses (Under 18) will in addition receive a FREE Women's Day Mile swim cap on the day.

Swimmers are reminded to please wear a brightly coloured swim cap of either Pink, Yellow, Green, Red or Orange. Swimmers are not permitted to use fins, flippers or snorkels UNLESS communicated with and agreed to by the swim organiser, Swim Cape Town (contact Scotty) . These swimmers will start in the non racing pod and not be eligible for category prizes. Swimmers may choose to swim in either a costume or wetsuit on the day. Any changes on the day must be communicated at check in and not any later!

NOTE: Swimmers Under 13 may also enter ONLY if they are able to provide proof of Open Water Swimming competency through their recent Ocean swimming results or having a Lifesaving South Africa Level 2 Nipper (Under 11 and Under 12) or a Level 3 Nipper (Under 13 and Under 14) Award.
