The Trans-Augrabies MTB, Gravel Bike & Trail Run Stage Race is a 2-day endurance adventure set in the heart of the Green Kalahari, covering more than 197 km of diverse terrain surrounding the legendary Augrabies Falls National Park.

Two Challenging Stages

Prepare for two full days of racing through ever-changing terrain and conditions — combining physical challenge with spectacular natural beauty. Whether you’re chasing the podium or riding for the sheer adventure, this route delivers an experience like no other.

The course traverses a region recently named one of Rough Guides’ Top Ten Adventure Destinations, where vast desert landscapes meet the lush Gariep (Orange) River valley. Riders and runners alike will experience the raw, untouched beauty of Augrabies Falls National Park — with its dramatic rock formations, ancient quiver trees, and the thunderous roar of the mighty falls.

This is no easy race — but those who take it on will be rewarded with breathtaking scenery and a truly authentic Northern Cape adventure.

Race Village & Accommodation

Our Race Village is based inside Augrabies Falls National Park, with both stage starts and finishes conveniently located nearby — just a short walk from the park’s chalets.

We strongly recommend booking accommodation directly via the SANParks website. Availability typically opens nine months in advance and fills up quickly.

Ride & Run Options

• MTB Full Race – The complete 2-day experience.

• MTB Mini – A shorter, but still challenging and rewarding option.

• Gravel Bike – A route specifically designed for gravel riders.

• Trail Run – A 2-day trail running stage race through the same dramatic terrain, offering a unique way to experience the Green Kalahari’s rugged beauty on foot.

All bikes are welcome — including e-bikes (note: e-bikes are not eligible for podium prizes).

Handicap Timekeeping – A Level Playing Field

A first for South Africa!
Our innovative Handicap Timekeeping System uses a fair formula to equalize performance across age and gender, giving veterans and women an equal chance to compete for the Overall Handicap Title.

How it works (MTB Race only):
Your actual race time is reduced by a handicap percentage based on your age and gender, resulting in your handicap time. This system levels the playing field while still rewarding great performance.

This year, we’re proud to host a Charity Auction during the event — with all proceeds going to two causes close to our hearts:

• Red ’n Plaas – Red ’n Gemeenskap, a disaster relief fund that supports rural Northern Cape farming communities affected by natural disasters.

• The Honorary Rangers, who play a vital role in protecting and maintaining the natural beauty of the Augrabies Falls region and its wildlife.
